Our Favourite Korean Recipes
One of our favourite cuisines right now is Korean. We love its use of Gochujang chilli and savoury flavours while mixing it with a lot of other Asian influence.
In this article, we thought to create a roundup for all our favorite Korean recipes that we think you'll love. So, let's get cooking!"
Korean Fried Chicken - Dakgangjeong
This recipe comes from one of our favourite Filipino chefs, Chef RV Manabat's YouTube channel. The secret to these unbelievably crispy fried chicken is the use of potato starch. Mixing it with a sweet and soy sauce makes it even more tempting!
Gochujang Chicken Wings
We love the flavours coming from these marinated chicken wings, perfect for a light snack or even as an accompaniment with rice. The sticky sauce makes it irresistable!
Jjiage - Gochujang Stew
If you are looking for a nice, hearty meal for cold, winter nights, look no further. This dish is made with incredibly tasty pork belly as well as a mix of hearty vegetables and tofu. The Gochujang-enriched stock adds an incredible colour to the dish!
Gochujang Bulgogi
This dish is a perfect dinner dish with its mix of pork, vegetables and zingy Gochujang sauce. Perfect if you are looking for a filling and satisfying dish!
Korean Chili Garlic Noodles
For those looking for satisfying noodle-based dish, this recipe is sure to deliver. This is similar to Dan Dan Noodles in that it has ground pork and lots of spices.
Sweet and Spicy Korean Chicken
This will probably one of my go-to dishes for weeknights because it's so easy to make. For a slightly healthier version, I will skip the cornflour and the deep frying and simply shallow fry the chicken breasts. Perfect with rice!
Easy Chicken Bulgogi
We got inspired by Aaron and Claire's YouTube channel which gave us this simple and very quick Chicken Bulgogi recipe.
I tried this recipe and indeed it was a good idea not to marinate the chicken in all of the liquid ingredients to make it cook faster.
So I marinated the chicken pieces just with some soy sauce and baking soda coming from advise from Mandy from Souped Up Recipes.
The chicken pieces cooked really quickly to my surprise! I will definitely keep this in mind next time I'm in a hurry.
Making and cooking the sauce separately from the chicken also helped it thicken up really quickly.
In the end, I served the chicken and the sauce with some egg noodles rather than white rice which is also a great combination!
Easy Ground Beef Bulgogi
For those who would like to have beef bulgogi in a flash.
Unlike the chicken bulgogi recipe from Aaron and Claire, we will be mixing the ground beef with mushrooms and the bulgogi sauce.
Because of the addition of the mushrooms, there will be a bit of moisture developing in this recipe in the beginning, so be sure to continue on cooking until most of the water has evaporated and you have a slightly thickened sauce.
Aaron also advised that too much moisture in food will make the dish go off quicker when storing in the fridge. So for those who would like to do some batch cooking, try to either remove most of the moisture by cooking longer or freeze some of the leftover for future use.
Easy Spicy Ground Pork Bulgogi
If you have some pork mince sitting around and you fancy something Korean, spicy and also super quick and simple, then you should try this recipe.
The steps is slightly modified combined to the beef bulgogi recipe. Here, we cook the pork separately from the sauce. We try to dry out the pork first then add the sauce after, then cook until slightly thick. The addition of Gochugaru or Korean red chilli flakes also makes this dish slightly more spicy, but can be omitted to your taste.
